a gift from the mountains
in the dead of winter:
winds of reprieve.
    daffodil shoots
    doomed to freeze
Chinooks, although they makes the weather nice for humans (except for migraine sufferers), can be a killer to some spring plants.

Don't even mention headaches, damn windy weather made me have a two day migraine. I was sick as a dog... :ohnoes: This tanka can be applied to Hungarian weather too, the trees' spouts hopefully won't freeze this year (maybe).

Hmm, I like it. It's a nice poem that depicts both positive and negative aspects of the same wind. Sad for the daffodils (and me, I get migraine), but good for us humans.
